چکیده

New materials capable of storing thermal energy in view building applications have been developed from the foaming ethylene-propylene diene monomer (EPDM) rubber with addition paraffin as a phase change material (PCM) at melting temperature about 21°C. Considering that EPDM foams prepared by using traditional chemical blowing agents are generally characterized rather elevated environmental load, salt leaching technique has selected (and optimized) for production an foam geometrical density 0.41 g/cm 3 . It demonstrated produced were retaining up to 62 wt% after 38-days leaking test. The role absorption on and mechanical properties investigated. effective PCM content (PCM eff ) measured differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) was 52% both heating cooling scans. Shore A test, compression set (CS) quasi-static test above below transition performed, strong dependence respect testing observed, acting hardener its point softener point. Moreover, evaluation storage (TES) performance monitoring their surface during heating/cooling process revealed time required samples reach due presence three times higher comparison reference sample without paraffin. plateau melting/crystallization, rates around 0.4°C/min found, which much lower (>1.5°C/min). Thermal efficiency intervals application EPDM/paraffin determined most accurate manner therefore performed DSC rate 1°C/min. These TES-EPDM exhibited capacity 120–128 J/g operative interval range ?20°C 40°C. maintaining geometry being subjected 240 cycles between 0 40°C, residual TES than 90% all (about 95% tested aluminum substrate). interesting found via 60–80 microns NaCl.

Thermal Characterization of Plain and Carbon Nanotube reinforced Syntactic Foams

Composite materials fabricated using hollow microspheres are called syntactic foams. Particulate filler composites such as syntactic foams, consisting of glass microballoons and epoxy resin, are desirable for applications that require high compressive and impact strengths and low thermal conductivities. However, for heat dissipation applications, filler additions are required to increase the th...

Thermal and Mechanical Modeling of Metal Foams for Thermal Interface Applications

We present a study on the apparent thermal resistance of metal foams as a thermal interface in electronics cooling applications. Metal foams are considered beneficial for several applications due to its significantly large surface area for a given volume. Porous heat sinks made of aluminum foam have been well studied in the past. It is not only cost effective due to the unique production proces...
